Lauren and Monty’s wedding day was full of so many unexpected surprises, for one, we all woke up that morning in Central Texas to uncharacteristic temperatures and weather conditions. The day before had highs in the 80s and it was humid. On the morning of April 7th we experienced lows in the low 40s and well…that’s about as “warm” as it felt for the rest of the day. It was also SO WINDY. I remember thinking at the beginning of the reception that was in a tent with no space heaters (bc who would think you’d need them on April 7th) that there was no way guests would be able to last ’til the end of the night…boy was I wrong 🙂
Lauren and Monty are both professional videographers working in Austin. Their kindness and witty sense of humor is what I noticed first both about this duo. And they are so incredibly in love with one another. Watching them exist side by side is something special to witness. They care so deeply for one another and for their friends and family. They got married on Lauren’s family farm in Shiner, Texas. It’s a special place for their entire family and it was the perfect place for these two to say “I Do.” Upon entering Lauren’s parents’ house I was greeted with such generosity and accommodation. Lauren’s dad helped me and my equipment inside, her bridesmaids immediately asked me if they could help in any way, Lauren’s mom offered up her bedroom for me to pump in (um amazing!), and Lauren said hello to me with the warmest hug I’ve had in months. It’s such a gift when I work with couples and I’m treated like family!
I’ll always remember Lauren and Monty’s gusty wedding ceremony. Their best pooch Gracie was carried down the aisle in her plush dog bed and laid at their feet while they exchanged vows. Vows of poetry is what they were!! Lauren and Monty have a way with words that will make anybody melt. I wiped tears from my eyes on multiple occassions. Something that I adored was how both sets of parents sat on the side of the aisle where they had the best view of their kid’s face. Lauren’s parents wanted to watch their daughter’s reactions throughout the ceremony and Monty’s parents wanted to see their son deliver his vows to his wife. It was such a thoughtful and sweet touch.
And of course, since we were in Shiner, everyone toasted to the couple with ice cold Shiner beer at the conclusion of the nuptials! Oh and one more thing, the neighbor’s two dogs crashed the wedding reception and it was my favorite addition to a wedding reception EVERRRR.
I hope you’re having the best time in Joshua Tree National Park Lauren and Monty, excited to see you both when y’all get back!
