Y’all ready to see something special? Will contacted me about two months before the proposal. His initial email made me so excited, he told me him and his girlfriend Katie wanted to get couples photos taken and they wanted me to take them. He then told me that he planned to propose to her during them and he wanted me to capture that moment perfectly. I was SO STOKED to take this on, I’ve never photographed a proposal and I feel so honored that I was there to document this tender and tremendously important moment for these two.
The morning of the proposal I woke up with so much energy, I’m sure Will did too 😉 The weather was a bit gloomy that day but it by no means took away from the warmth and love that was present between Katie and Will.
As soon as they both got out of their car that morning I liked them, their dogs Ruthless and Dreizehn came along too and it was all so much fun. Katie and I talked about our love for dogs and animals and I felt an instant bond with her. Animal lovers are so kind and down to earth.
Will initially told me he wanted to proprose at the very beginning of the session, he was a bit nervous (I totally get it) and wanted to get that done so the rest of the session would be about the excitement and joy they were experiencing. Will and I came up with a signal that he would give me right before it was about to go down. I told them both to basically “love on each other” at the beginning instead of me directing them because I didn’t want my voice and presence to be what they remembered about that moment. I wanted it to be natural and not contrived. They were naturals, it was so beautiful to watch…
And then Will got down on one knee and it was perfect!
She said yes…obviously.
I’m loving the raw emotion in these photos, so much swoon!
Congratulations Katie and Will I’m so happy for you both!
