As a lifestyle photographer I am granted a handful of privileges others are not. I get to be with people on the happiest occasions of their lives. On wedding days we’re allowed full access to a couple on a day where they say “I Do” to one another and on birthdays, ACTUAL BIRTH DAYS, I’m beyond humbled and honored to spend the moments with parents as they hear their baby breathe and cry for the first time. It’s heavy stuff, important stuff, and I’m just so thankful.
Kristi and Tyler hired me to capture their baby girl’s first moments of life. They planned a home birth with midwives (my favorite kind). Kristi went 9 days over her due date (just like I did with Olive) and then at about 8:30pm one night I got a text from Tyler that it was time for me to come, Baby Tavia was on her way.
I noticed a list of phone numbers on their refrigerator, it was basically who to call when Kristi went into labor. I was so honored to be a part of their birthing team 😉
Speaking of Kristi’s birthing team, her midwives were from Heart of Texas Midwives and they really do saints’ work. I had my baby with a midwife so I’m already a bonafied Midwife Groupie but they were so incredibly nurturing, present, and capable during Kristi’s labor. She labored long and hard at their home but eventually it was decided to transfer to a nearby hospital.
Tyler was so every present and supportive, this daddy deserved the silver medal at the end of the day, the gold obviously going to Kristi for all the hard work she put in!
And then she came…nobody could get over what a cute baby Tavia was from the very beginning.
First Perfect Family Photo.
Congratulations Kristi and Tyler, she is utter perfection!
