Meet Katie and Kevin! They tied the knot at the Dimebox Ballroom in closeby Georgetown, Texas on April Fool’s Day. The bluebonnets were vibrant and the flora and fauna was prevalent…literally. There were bountiful blooms and animals EVERYWHERE and it was awesome. This spring has been full of weddings and animals and really, that’s a wonderful combination for me, two of my favorite things!! Katie and Kevin reside in Madison, Wisconsin together. She works as a traveing nurse and Kevin is a programmer. Together they share two lovely dogs named Wally and Rosie who are the loves of their lives.
Oh Katie and Kevin, how do I describe in a blog post the joy you both brought me on your wedding day?! Katie and I corresponded a lot before their big day and right off the bat I could tell she was hilarious. Her emails left me cry laughing, so much so that I would read them aloud to my husband and we would laugh about them together. It was apparent from the beginning that they were a laid back couple and the only pictures they really really wanted were pictures with their “bad bad dogs” (Katie’s words) and the beer burros! DONE AND DONE. And yes, beer burros.
The week’s forecast leading up to their wedding day didn’t look promising. It called for steady rain throughout the day, but aside from a bit of drizzle at the very beginning they enjoyed temperate and beautiful skies…the sun even popped out right before their first look. I was in heaven with this duo and I’m crazy crazy crazy about the photos we captured together.
Some of my favorite moments from their big day are as follows…
1) When I told Katie “your boots are my everything” and she thought I said, “your boobs are my everything.”
2) When her Grandma June allowed me to put Katie’s floral crown on her for a few photos.
3) When Katie kept saying things like, “I want to climb on this fence, or I want to swing on this tire swing, or I want to lay in these bluebonnets with our dogs.” I was very encouraging with all these ideas.
4) When Katie sat with me during her reception, told me I better drink a margarita, started eating my fried catfish, and then asked me when I knew I wanted to become a mother.
I Instagram stalked them a bit while they were on their honeymoon and came across a picture of Katie sampling a fried maggot on a street food tour in Mexico City. My kinda girl! Thank you Katie and Kevin for choosing me as your wedding photographer. I’m beyond thrilled for the two of you, from the bottom of my heart…thank you for being so lovely and down to earth!
