It’s been one month since Amy and John’s lovely August wedding and I’m still thinking about it like it was just a few days ago. I had the honor of photographing their rehearsal dinner the night before their big day and gained so much insight into the history of Amy and John as a couple from their friends and family members. Amy and John set up three meals/events where their wedding guests could mingle and really get to know one another. Their guests came from all walks of life and the couple wanted nothing more than all those they loved to become familiar and friendly with everyone present. I loved the diversity present at their wedding weekend, those from so many creeds and cultures came together to celebrate Amy and John and their journey together.
I met with Amy months before her wedding at a really cool cafe in central Austin. We shared a plate of waffle cheese fries and I immediately loved her for ordering them and insisting that I eat as much as I want because she just learned I was pregnant. Did I mention that Amy is a beloved OB/GYN in the Austin area? When I posted a handful of sneak peeks from their wedding day I had friends on social media come out and say, “OMG, Dr. Kung, she delivered my babies…we LOVE her.” This happened more than twice and some of her patients were even at her wedding. John is an equally loved general surgeon from Memphis, where Amy also hails. There were dozens of stories told about how he’ll welcome just about anybody into his home and treat them as friends, he’s a “what’s mine is yours” type of guy. So basically, we were capturing the love story of two of this world’s greatest humans.
There are basically a thousand more words I could say about these wonderful people but I’ll end by wishing this power couple all the love this world has to offer. Best of luck with your move back to Memphis Amy, I hope John’s home improvement projects to his bachelor pad are epic and everything you’ve both hoped for!! Smooches to you both, xoxo.
