My streak of amazing, awesome, smart and hilarious couples continues. Meet Maya and Tucker everybody! They’re a travel and adventure obsessed couple currently residing in New York City. I reveled in hearing about the inner workings of their relationship and all the quirky inside jokes that come with it from Maya’s sisters (one of whom is their roommate) during their reception. Whenever Maya gets into a cleaning frenzy and begins to feverishly clean their NYC apartment from top to bottom Tucker may suggest that she sit down and just take a break, to which Maya will respond, “remember, you chose this.” And it goes both ways, when Tucker chooses a movie on Netflix that Maya deems boring or perhaps they’ve seen it so many times already Maya will protest that she’s bored or “really, this again?” and Tucker will remind her, “remember, you chose this.” I got such a kick out of that and I may or may not have included this line into my marriage. “Remember honey, you chose this.” Sorry for being such a copy cat Maya and Tucker.
I had been looking forward to their wedding for months, for starters, it was my very first Indian wedding. I had been dreaming of the possibilities for so long, I’m such a sucker for Indian culture…the bright colors and saris, the intricate henna and the luxurious and abundant gold jewelry. It was all present at Maya and Tucker’s wedding and man oh man did it all photograph beautifully. I’m still drooling over all the details and the beautiful light that cloacked their big day. Also, the couple obviously shares a love for good food and it shows. They had Taco Deli and G’raj Mahal cater their wedding and it was a wonderful fusion of Mexican and Indian cuisine!
One of my favorite moments from their wedding day happened at the very beginning. I had just arrived at their venue and went up to the bridal suite to greet Maya and her bridesmaids. When I walked through the door Beyonce’s Lemonade was playing as the girls pinned bobbies and adjusted their saris. I knew at that moment I was in the right place. And to make it even more awesome, as soon as Maya started to put on her sari Formation came on and I died of awesome and happiness.
Congratulations Maya and Tucker!! I wish you both all the happiness this world has to offer. Now go forth and travel to all the places…
